AEA Boston 2010

AEA Boston 2010

It is my mission, next year, to make An Event Apart Boston 2010. It’s the shot in the arm that I need I think to get my focus back on what I want and what I have my eye on. A job, full-time, in web design & development. 2008’s AEA gave me the shot in the arm I needed. It fired up something that had been dormant in me for awhile.

Personal issues aside, An Event Apart gave me what I needed in 2008, a much-needed boost of creativity. I need to attend and recharge again. I think it’s pretty clear in my opinion that is something that needs to be done. I met some of the nicest people and some of the people I have followed for years. Read their books, visited their web sites, watched videos of their presentations. Learned something from them, gathered important information in the field I was concentrating in making a career out of.

Jeffrey Zeldman, Eric Meyer, Jason Santa Maria, Bruce Lawson and more. You can read my in-depth article here, which I wrote after AEA 2008. This year’s roster, isn’t short of the best and brightest in the web world either.

This next installment though, featured three people I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting. Dan Cederholm, Jeremy Keith and Andy Clarke. Of course, meeting everyone would be a treat, and hearing Jared Spool speak again would be great, he has some of the most engaging presentations I have ever seen and had the honor of being at. Visually and content-wise, Ethan Marcotte had the presentation that really got my gears turning and thinking. He also had one hell of a slideshow.

AEA is one of the best conferences I have ever been to, I learned so much in such a short span of time. It’s full of long days and great presentations, but it is well worth it, it’s worth the price of admission, it’s worth the 3-hour drive for me, it’s worth the drive or flight for anyone, I assure you.

I hope to see people there. I’ll be there in 2010! This time I won’t be missing the opening night party (hopefully). Until then, I’ll be working on something that maybe someone will take a look at it and see that I have some potential somewhere and maybe I can represent a firm when I get down to Boston and attend the conference.
