AEA Boston 2010

AEA Boston 2010

It is my mission, next year, to make An Event Apart Boston 2010. It’s the shot in the arm that I need I think to get my focus back on what I want and what I have my eye on. A job, full-time, in web design & development. 2008’s AEA gave me the shot in the arm I needed. It fired up something that had been dormant in me for awhile.

Personal issues aside, An Event Apart gave me what I needed in 2008, a much-needed boost of creativity. I need to attend and recharge again. I think it’s pretty clear in my opinion that is something that needs to be done. I met some of the nicest people and some of the people I have followed for years. Read their books, visited their web sites, watched videos of their presentations. Learned something from them, gathered important information in the field I was concentrating in making a career out of.

I totally forgot about this seminar. A one-day workshop down in Salem, MA with Dan Cederholm & Ethan Marcotte something that I had read about not too long ago when fishing around for something to read.

At first, I wanted the book. Then I wanted the book & the DVD. Now I want the free pass to the event. I had to write some haikus, or in this case handcrafted haikus. The site for the book is a visual treat to me. I’ve been an admirer of Dan’s work from afar.

I have made my entries, now I await. Tweet yours and read the rules here and remember to add the #hcsshaiku with your tweet to get your entry in, they’re piling up and time is running out!

Web Design Courses and Dreamweaver

The local college and the local school that offers college courses offers web design as a course. Both these courses use Dreamweaver as the aid for students to help them in their learning. The only thing I have a gripe with is that the local courses for college credits list Dreamweaver as

the industry standard.

If you’re reading this article, I would like to hear your input. Do you think this is so? Is Dreamweaver the “industry standard” and if not, what are your thoughts? What would your “standard” be? What do you use in your aid and if you were the instructor, what would you use as your aid to help students learn web design?
